Specialist investment manager Thames River Capital has set up a Japanese equity team as part of its current hiring spree.

The team will be led by Rod Birkett, who joins from JP Morgan Fleming, where he was managing director of the investment trust business. Birkett managed the £500m (€779m) Fleming Japanese investment trust.
