I’ve got a job interview at a rival firm, the problem is it’s during office hours. How do I keep from getting busted by my boss?

Ideally, you would push to have the interview before or after work and then just sidle off without anyone knowing, but very often that is not doable. You also don’t want to look too fussy and inflexible when you are in the early stages of speaking to a potential new employer.
