Allegations of sexual misconduct against City hedge fund titan Crispin Odey have now engulfed the eponymous firm he founded in 1991.
Triggered by revelations from 13 women who claim the millionaire Brexiteer made uninvited sexual advances against them — using his position of power and influence within the firm and further afield — the firm itself is now battling for survival.
The firm is in talks with rival asset managers to rehouse funds, while its founder, once a popular City influencer, revered for his financial genius, stands accused of a string of sexual assault allegations, all of which he has denied.
The allegations— unveiled by a joint Financial Times and Tortoise Media investigation — detail incidents between 1998 and 2021, such as forcing a woman's hand onto his genitals. In another incident, Odey is alleged to have masturbated on a female entrepreneur after a business meeting.
At the centre of it all is Odey Asset Management, where senior staff are alleged to have known about the behaviour for years.
The Financial Conduct Authority is investigating the matter. The regulator will also soon face questions from MPs over its handling of the matter, which it began investigating two years ago.
