FE Analytics has compiled a list of the 15 UK equity funds that have spent the longest periods of time at or near the top of the performance charts. It's done this by looking at quartile rankings of five-year performance, in each quarter over the past 11 years

So, for every three-month period where a fund has top-quartile five-year performance, it earns a score of one. Second-quartile performance warrants a mark of two, third-quartile earns a three and fourth-quartile a four. Which means the lowest, and best possible score for a fund over the period FE has analysed is 44.
