The real surprise was that fortunes could be reversed so quickly. Only a week before, on April 27, the Financial Times published a report on hedge funds in which "100 Funds to Watch" included Dillon Read Capital Management.

The fund's strategy was described as fixed income, and the assets were estimated at $3.5bn, run by John Costas.
