If Michael and Yoel Zaoui – the golden brothers of investment banking – catch up in the next few weeks, the conversation could be interesting. Yoel is co-head of investment banking at Goldman Sachs in Europe and is leading the team advising Mittal Steel on its unsolicited €18bn bid for Arcelor – the biggest deal in Europe this year.
Not to be outdone, Michael, chairman of European M&A at Morgan Stanley, is trying to persuade Arcelor to add him and his team to its list of advisers as it prepares for a good old-fashioned scrap with Mittal. Let's hope they leave any hostility in the office.
