Considering the millions of dollars that firms blow on branding campaigns, it is a shame that Reuters or Bloomberg can blow it all apart in the apparently random process of allocating trading tickers or RICs. The Scottish American Investment Company, an investment trust owned by First State Investment Management, is proud of its heritage and history as one of the oldest investment trusts in the world, having been launched in 1857. It calls the trust "Saints" for good measure.

What a shame then that such a solid investment firm should trade on Reuters under the inappropriate ticker of "SCAM".
