The Village

Despite threatening skies, Euronext Liffe's guests at its annual rooftop garden jolly in London did not get drenched this year.

The exchange laid on a racing car game for the guests, divided into teams representing each Euronext country. The UK team came in last, abandoning its car in mid-play and disappearing off to the pub. The Portuguese team came in first, having bought the laps already racked up by the British for a knockdown price. And the Dutch team topped the list in overall winnings, chiefly by selling bottles of beer at inflated prices to the thirsty crew running the game. Cheating? What cheating? According to one partygoer from Liffe, all is fair in love and business. "Winning is everything – cheating is good," he said. We're sure the FSA would be delighted to hear it.
