Hedge funds, pension schemes and other large investors will start trading in cryptocurrencies once three hurdles are overcome, according to new research.

Researcher Tabb Group said in a report published on Tuesday that 2018 will be the year that digital currencies "go institutional", but they are currently being held back by perceived trading risks.
