Time to go: Basle should pay for its betrayal

Later this week, senior bankers will outline their response to controversial new rules currently being planned by international regulators.

The proposals, which are being co-ordinated by the Basle Committee on Banking Supervision, will set out how much capital banks must put aside to cushion themselves against unexpected losses should a borrower or counterparty to a derivatives trade suddenly go bust.
