John Wood, a five-star-rated fund manager at Newton Investment Management, has quit to join JO Hambro Capital Management, a fast-growing boutique.

JO Hambro will launch a UK Opportunities fund in the autumn managed by Wood. He is the third hire by JO Hambro from Newton in 15 months. Last year star manager Clive Beagles and analyst James Lowen joined the boutique.
