Not even poor sales in Europe have dented share price rises at the region's big car producers

Investors in European automakers may have been tempted to slam on the brakes this week when data showed that June car registrations in the region had fallen to their lowest level in 17 years. But shares motored upwards.

In stark contrast with the region's gloom, stocks of the large European car producers have rallied over the past year, supported by healthy growth figures overseas and hopes that the local auto market has been through the worst of the storm.
