Trading Places: All change at Credit Suisse, JPMorgan bets on private markets

Credit Suisse vice chair Severin Schwanwon't stand for re-election at the firm's upcoming shareholder meeting, the Swiss bank announced. Schwan, who is also chief executive of pharma company Roche, has been vice chair and lead independent director of Credit Suisse since 2017. Christian Gellerstad will fill his role, subject to his own re-election, as part of the latest shakeup to Credit Suisse's senior ranks after a turbulent year.

Meanwhile, the bank's hiring — or rehiring — push continued. After a spate of departures in the wake of the Archegos crisis, the Swiss lender has now lured 14 senior dealmakers back into the fold, the latest being Vivek Manipadam. Manipadam left Credit Suisse in August 2020, when he was a director, joining Amazon to lead its corporate development team in Emea. He has now returned as a managing director within the bank's Emea technology, media and telecoms team.
