UBS chief Sergio Ermotti donates $1m for virus relief — report

Ermotti will step down as chief executive of the bank in November

The outgoing chief executive of UBS, the Swiss bank, has personally donated around 1m Swiss francs ($1.05m) to coronavirus relief efforts, according to a report in the Swiss outlet Blick.

Sergio Ermotti, whose tenure as CEO will end on 1 November, will distribute the funds through a family foundation to non-profit organisations. It will go to people in need of emergency funds in the Canton of Ticino, the southernmost region of Switzerland and the worst-affected by the crisis, the newspaper reported.
