UBS has promoted François Gouws, its head of European research sales and distribution, to replace Alex Easton as head of European equities. The move is widely seen as the beginning of a big shake-up in the bank's equity business.

Easton was one of four bankers to quit UBS' European equities team within 24 hours earlier this month.
