UBS has named a new head of mergers and acquisitions for its Financial Institutions Group in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, in anticipation of cross-border consolidation among the region’s banks.

Guzman Carles’ promotion sees him fill a role last held by Stephen Carter, who left the bank in October.
