UBS has assembled a team of bankers to advise European companies on how to defend themselves against activist investors, as big banks look to capitalise on a wave of activism sweeping the continent.

Under the leadership of Piero Novelli, co-head of investment banking, UBS has relocated Darren Novak, its global head of activist defence, from New York to London to get closer to the growing number of campaigns in Europe.
