UBS Warburg has stamped its mark on European equities by topping the 2002 Thomson Extel Survey for the second year running.
The firm swept the board, winning the top ranking for best pan-European equity research, equity sales and equity trading and execution. For good measure, the firm won best equity derivatives service, best country research, best sector research and best emerging markets research. The survey, based on the opinions of 3,500 people from 860 buy-side firms in 42 countries, restores UBS Warburg to the sort of prominence it enjoyed in the mid-1990s before it was displaced by Merrill Lynch.
