UBS Warburg sheds 140 jobs

UBS Warburg has made redundant 110 call-centre staff in Maastricht and 30 in Edinburgh following a change of strategy for targeting wealthy private clients.

The investment bank decided to scrap Eservices, its online pan-European investment service that was due to launch by the end of this year, following the merger with PaineWebber in October. This also involved closing its customer services call centres.
