UK broker recruits as profits rise

Oriel Securities reported a 30% climb in profits to £3.9m (€5.7m) last year, as the traditional UK stockbroker revealed it has launched a hiring spree less than six weeks after appointing the former head of ING Barings as its first chairman.

The broker reported operating profits rose from £3m in the 12 months to the end of 2005, to £3.9m last year.
