UK calls for Mifid delay

The UK is to propose a further delay to the European Union's Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, a landmark regulation set to be enforced in 18 months, over fears financial services firms will not meet the deadline.

The UK, which has the presidency of the European Union, will propose that Mifid, be delayed until October 2007, according to a document obtained by Reuters.
