UK economy to endure several waves of Covid-19, BoE chief economist says

Andy Haldane said the economy will be struck by second and third waves of the coronavirus

The chief economist of the Bank of England Andy Haldane has warned that the UK’s economy will be hit by several waves of the coronavirus.

Speaking at an online event at Buckingham University on 7 July, Haldane asked, “how big will be the second and third and fourth wave peaks?”. He then said: “They surely will come.”
