UK unemployment rises to 4.1% as payrolls fall

ONS figures show that the number of employees on payrolls is down around 695,000 since lockdown

The UK jobs market took a step backwards in August, with the unemployment rate edging higher and the number of workers falling.

The 73,000 increase in the claimant count — which includes those who are eligible for assistance while still being in a job — was below the 100,000 seen by economists.
