Investors poured almost £140m into unloved UK equity funds on the day after Boris Johnson’s general election victory — the highest daily total this year, bearing out hopes that a decisive result would reignite confidence in UK stocks.

According to Calastone, the data provider, funds that invest in UK companies attracted a net £138m on December 13, building on positive momentum that had been gathering in the weeks leading up to the election on December 12.
