The UK’s fintech sector brushed off months of political turmoil to draw in more venture capital and private equity investment than ever before last year.
A total of $4.9bn was put into UK fintechs in 2019, up 38% on the previous year. This made the country the second most popular market for fintech investment globally behind the US with $16.3bn. It was significantly ahead of its nearest European rivals Germany and Sweden, which attracted $1.3bn and $778m, respectively.
