Carnival will have more leverage to open talks with P&O Princess Cruises following the UK's decision to refer the potential merger of Princess with Royal Caribbean Cruises to the UK Competition Commission.
The UK government's decision has undermined Princess and Carribean's claims that their deal is more "deliverable" than Carnival's hostile bid for Princess.
