UK news group axes Schroder in favour of index tracking

Telegraph Group, the UK publisher, has dropped Schroder Investment Management in favour of Barclays Global Investors as sole investment manager of its £78m (€126.6m) staff pension scheme.

The move was prompted by the UK publisher's fund decision to transfer all of its assets from active to passive management. BGI was appointed following a beauty parade of four managers, one of which is understood to have been UK rival Legal & General Investment Management.
