UK sanctions Sberbank, Credit Bank of Moscow in latest push against Putin

Russia's largest lender latest to be hit with sanctions as the UK ramps up economic pressure on the country

The UK government said 6 April that it was implementing a full asset freeze on Sberbank Rossia and Credit Bank of Moscow to "starve Putin's war machine".

The British government said the UK would end all new outward investment into Russia, and that it will end all imports of Russian coal and oil by the end of 2022.
