UK saw significant growth in property investment in late 2001

A third of UK firms increased their property holdings in the second six months of 2001, according to a survey by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and GVA Grimley, the property advisers.

The figure is six times as high as the CBI and Grimley had expected halfway through the year. The strongest increase in demand was for offices, closely followed by retail outlets. Factories and warehouses were far less buoyant.
