British banking regulators are putting the stress on emerging economies this year but that doesn’t mean those that have pulled in their international horns are getting an easy ride.
The Bank of England revealed the terms of its 2015 stress tests on Monday and the main theme is the potential for a big reversal in money flows from Asia and Latin America back to the US. This will put pressure on Standard Chartered and HSBC when the results are released in the fourth quarter. Both passed easily last year when the worst stresses were put on UK property.
