The UK government has introduced a package of draft regulations that will give underfunded pension schemes significantly longer to correct their deficits.

A new consultation panel has also been appointed to help develop primary legislation to remove the existing minimum funding requirement (MFR) and replace it with a new funding standard for UK pension schemes. In the meantime, a package of draft regulations should help relieve some funds of the unwelcome pressures arising from the MFR.
