The chief executive of Italy’s biggest bank expects more mergers among the country’s smaller financial institutions, but believes the largest deals in the sector have now been completed.

Alessandro Profumo, the chief executive of UniCredit, said he expected consolidation among smaller Italian banks, Italian financial daily Finanza & Mercati reports.
