US firms dominate bonds

UK and continental European fund managers are in danger of being sidelined in the battle to win global fixed-income mandates unless they invest more in their businesses.

Global mandates, which offer a choice of investments across currencies and time zones, are common in equity markets and are taking off in fixed income as investors and consultants try to generate higher returns from bond portfolios.
