US firms take red tape out of European credit swap market

JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley have executed the first credit derivatives master agreement in the European market, drastically reducing the red tape associated with confirming trades.

Credit derivatives include credit default swaps, an insurance-type derivatives contract that pays out if a borrower defaults on its debt or loan obligations. Buyers deliver bonds issued by the underlying credit to receive payment.
