The number of US hedge fund shutdowns dropped last year compared with 2006 despite the credit crunch, according to a media report.
In 2007, there were 49 hedge fund shutdowns in the US representing $18.8bn (â¬11.3bn) at their peak, a little over half of the 83 hedge funds that closed down with peak assets of $35bn in 2006, according to industry publication Absolute Return
