US loan market outpaces Europe

Lending in the US gathered pace in August, while in Europe there are few signs that the syndicated loan market is about to recover, according to new data.

The US loan market has powered ahead of the struggling European market since the end of July with US lending volumes outpacing European volumes by a multiple of three to one. That ratio is well above average. In the year to date US borrowers have borrowed twice as much in bank loans as Europeans.
