US venture capitalists raised $6.1bn (€5bn) for future investments in the three months to June 30, an 88% increase from the same period last year, as the industry displayed renewed appetite for risk and poured money into start-ups.
According to figures from the National Venture Capital Association, the US industry body, the amount of money flowing into US venture capital funds is set to increase for the third consecutive year, rebounding from a 2002 low of $3.8bn following the dotcom crash.
