Value funds globally are on track to record their worst annual performance relative to growth funds since before the financial crisis, Steve Russolillo writes for The Wall Street Journal.

Value stocks are those that are cheap relative to earnings or reported net worth, and are typically purchased by fund managers expecting long-term appreciation. This year, they have significantly lagged behind growth stocks, widening a gap that has persisted since the end of the financial crisis.
