Vanguard loses €400,000 court battle

Vanguard, the $850bn (€710bn) US mutual fund company, has lost a court battle with Henk Beets, its former assistant director of European marketing, and been ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of euros in damages.

Beets sued Vanguard Investments Europe in a Belgian court for more than €1m ($1.2m). He said he left the company after a clash with Ian Alcock, managing director of Vanguard Investments Europe.
