Global venture capital investment in clean technology companies jumped 43% last year, with investors placing most of their money in early-stage businesses in the US.
According to a report by Dow Jones VentureSource, venture capitalists increased their investments in companies that focus on energy efficiency and mitigating environmental risks from $2.1bn (â¬1.4bn) in 2006 to $3bn last year. The number of deals increased from 173 to 221.
