Veronis Suhler, the US media-focused merchant bank, has promoted Jeffrey Stevenson, head of its $1bn private equity fund, to co-chief executive of the bank.

The appointment will also see Stevenson's name join those of John Veronis and John Suhler, the founders, above the door. Stevenson joined the firm in 1982 and was made partner in 1998.
