Vestar Capital Partners, a US-based buyout firm, has hired the chief executive of WebMD, the online medical advice site, as a senior adviser.

Roger Holstein headed up WebMD for the past eight years, serving in several roles including chief executive, president, and director. He has also worked at Medco, the prescription benefit management firm.
