Vivendi Universal, the French conglomerate, has said it is in talks to acquire Scoot.com, the UK information provider.
Reports out late last year suggested that Vivendi was going to pay well over well over £1bn (€1.6) for Scoot. It is now proposing a drastically lower offer of up to 15p a share, valuing the business at around £100m. This has been dismissed as "wholly inadequate".
