UK giant Vodafone is turning its hand to private equity with the creation of a global venture fund to invest in wireless and internet opportunities.

More and more European telecom companies are grabbing a share of lucrative technology investments while distancing the risk from the corporate balance sheet. In the last month, Ericsson and KPN have both raised similar funds.
