Vodafone has banned Goldman Sachs from participating in a $15bn commercial paper programme after the investment bank declined to participate in a loan backing the programme.

However, the UK telecommunications company, has stopped short of imposing a more extensive ban that it had suggested might apply to banks that declined the loan.
