Mark Warham, head of UK mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley is to be the next director-general of the UK's Panel on Takeovers and Mergers.

Warham, 43, will replace Richard Murley, who has held the post since January 2003 following a secondment from Goldman Sachs and is due to step down on November 30.
