Wasserstein begins changes at Lazard

Bruce Wasserstein, the new head of Lazard, has appointed a team of four deputy chairmen to help him run the bank, and he has altered the firm's equity structure.

The four deputy chairmen, Gerardo Braggiotti, Georges Ralli, Marcus Agius and Kenneth Jacobs, all come from the banking side of the business, rather than from asset management. Ralli, who previously was head of corporate finance in Paris, will run Lazard Paris. Jacobs, who was head of investment banking in New York, will run the New York office. Agius was chairman of Lazard London, while Braggiotti was head of Europe (excluding Paris). In addition Bruno Roger, a senior French banker, will become chairman of Lazard Paris.
