Watchdog floats LSE takeover solution

The UK Competition Commission is seeking reactions to the idea of a second clearing house to compete with LCH.Clearnet to provide a central counterparty for trading on the London Stock Exchange.

The commission's merger inquiry team, which is looking into a possible takeover of the exchange, is asking for views on the effectiveness of the idea and its practicality. In particular, it is asking whether there is a viable business case for a second central counterparty.
