As Brexit negotiations kick off between the UK and the European Union, a prominent EU trade specialist has said the UK government should be pushing for an unlimited period in which to transition into life outside the bloc.

Miriam Gonzalez, a partner and co-chair of Dechert's international trade and government regulation practice since 2012, said that if she were leading discussions, she would be pushing for an indefinite implementation period to ensure that UK-based businesses do not "need to cope with change twice".
