Weak placement agents squeezed out

The technology boom prompted a rash of new private placement agents scouting investors for funds, but the subsequent dry-up in investment has sent the weakest agents' fortunes into a nosedive.

Antoine Dréan, managing partner of Triago, said there were just six agents worldwide when he set up his boutique agency in 1992.
